There will be a friendly new face in the pulpit for the 10 am service at All Saints this Sunday, 19 January - Rev Dr Ruth Gouldbourne. Ruth is taking part in a three-way pulpit swap organised by Churches Together in Cheadle Hulme to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
Our own Reader, Michael Aiers, is going to preach at Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church. And Rev Philip Peacock from Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church is going to lead worship, preach and preside at Communion at Grove Lane Baptist Church.
Ruth's sermon on Sunday will have the title "Who are you?" And that made us think we should find out a bit about her in advance...
Ruth has been in Cheadle Hulme at the Grove Lane Baptist Church for about 18 months, having served in a church in the centre of London for 12 years before that.
She has been a Baptist minister for 32 years and has served both in churches and as a tutor in theological college. Her particular area of study is Church history, especially the Reformation.
Ruth is married to Ian and they delight in the companionship of the latest addition to their household, Maizie the Bichon Frise. When not attempting to persuade Maizie to come down off the furniture, Ruth does cross stitch and attempts to build dolls houses.
Welcome to All Saints, Ruth!
