Friday Club - the Archaeology of Stockport
The Friday Club (our women's social group) is delighted to have Greater Manchester's County Archaeologist, Norman Redhead, as its speaker on Friday 8 February. Norman will be giving an illustrated talk which will describe some of the fascinating archaeological investigations that have taken place in Stockport over recent years. These include the castle and market sites, non-conformist burial grounds, the town’s rich textile mill legacy, early workers’ housing, and even the world’s largest Sunday School!
If you'd like to come along to hear all about the history hidden beneath our feet join us at 2pm in the Meeting Room. For non-members the cost is just £1 (including tea, coffee and biscuits). Please send us a quick email to book your place. |
